Sarah, Fundraising Volunteer ManagerPublished: 2 Dec 2020
Hi my name is Sarah, and I am the Fundraising Volunteer Manager for London and the East of England.
I have been at Macmillan for just over a year. In my role, I am responsible for recruiting and supporting fundraising volunteers across the region to help at a variety of events and to fundraise for our charity.
One of my favourite events is Virgin Money London Marathon, and as a child, I used to love watching it on the TV. I enjoyed seeing all of the crowds cheering the runners on and the different fancy dress some runners wore. It is such a wonderful day, with such a fantastic atmosphere!
Across the course, we will have six or seven cheerpoints filled with Macmillan volunteers, as well as a team to greet runners as they cross the finish line. We will be helping to make sure that every Team Macmillan runner feels supported and can celebrate with us across all 26.2 miles!
It is my job to make sure that each volunteer knows where to go, what their role is, and has a brilliant time on the day.
It is always really lovely chatting with all the volunteers, the friends and families of runners to hear everyone’s different stories. I enjoy hearing a roar of ‘GO TEAM MACMILLAN’ from our cheerpoints, each time one of our runners goes past!
